Bollywood breeds prostitutes (who would never succeed in America)

Came across this article on Slate.com about high profile female prostitutes in India. It's called 'Do  Bollywood Brothels Exist? Why a series of Indian actresses have been arrested for prostitution.'

These women are all really 'actress/model/singers', just like our talented women in the US, but they have the misfortune of living in a more openly misogynistic society. Just like this gorgeous and brilliant model who apparently lost more brain cells at Burning Man this year than I did. ANYWAY...

The Slate article talked about "the ultimate Indian male fantasy" and how it conflicts with their repressed, anti-female society and opens the floodgates for prostituion. "Demand for sex with actresses is very high in India, for a number of reasons. Indian actresses personify sexual liberation in a socially conservative country that places a high value on modesty and chastity. The gap between female sexuality and behavior on the Indian silver screen and in society is colossal."

The most interesting part of the article is a link to another article about one of the alleged prostitutes, who sounds like a smart business woman. What grabs my attention is her photos. Can you imagine this woman being a popular sex symbol in America?
